What's New for BusinessObjects 4.2 SP5

SAP has just released the What's New guide.  There are many small enhancements.  From my reading of the document, the things I'm most excited about are:

• New Promotion Management / Import Wizard.  It looks like this is now a desktop tool.
• In addition to PDF and Excel, documents can now be exported to HTML
• Apache Tomcat 9
• We can actually see our Windows AD groups in the CMC, and even search for groups!  😃  This is a minor thing, but since I submitted an enhancement request for this many years ago, it is nice to see SAP listening to some feedback.

Active Charts

Have you ever wanted to have a cool background video rolling behind you chart? Or give your chart a fade in background image? What about simple chart animation? Everyone loves to see a little life on their screen (especially executives). There is a product called Active Charts for BusinessObjects that does this. You can check it out here

This is made possible by an awesome new feature called Custom Elements. It is for Web Intelligence (Webi), and it lets you create your own visualizations. You can create whatever you can dream up, because the Custom Elements are displayed in an iFrame, so the rendering is completely external to BusinessObjects.  Have any of you seen anyone else implement Custom Elements?
